Botanic gardens

Autumn is brutal
it sweeps across the land like a feisty blade,
cutting out the life that came from spring,
chopping everything down,
ending in red,
war colours pinned to the mast,
crimson and orange and violent;
a slow and torturous end,
leaving burnt bloodstains across the land.
